NNNC Writing

Every year the Nebraska Department of Education requires each public school district to give the Nebraska State Assessment in the area of Writing (NeSA-W). Although this assessment takes place in the Spring and there are usually opportunities for practice tests, Staff Developers in the area of writing decided we could do a better job preparing teachers for this assessment. Three times a year in the fall, teachers of students in grades 4, 8, and 11 (one day per grade level) meet in Norfolk with their own student samples and practice grading based on the NeSA-W rubric. At the end of this day, each teacher receives detailed data that will better assist their classroom instruction. This data is individualized for every teacher in attendance and is available for the remainder of the year.
